North Ayrshire Council

Following a competitive tender process on the Scottish Government’s Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency Framework, North Ayrshire Council awarded Everwarm a £1m energy performance contract to design and implement energy efficiency works to 15 public buildings.

These include community centres, libraries, nurseries, primary and secondary schools, commercial and warehouse facilities.

The buildings are all of different ages and conditions, with some dating back to the early 1990s. Importantly, a bespoke approach to savings has been made based on these factors to maximise the benefits to both the council and building users.

The selected energy conservation measures (ECMs) include the installation of:

  • LED lighting upgrades
  • Solar photovoltaic (PV)
  • Thermostatic radiator valves
  • Commercial boiler plant upgrades
  • Domestic hot water efficiency systems
  • Building fabric performance upgrades
  • Variable speed drives (VSDs) within air handling units (AHUs)

Everwarm is providing a full turnkey service consisting of a design, build, operation and maintenance solution. As part of the contract, we have committed to realising specified energy savings within a 10-year payback period – equating to a CO2 saving per annum in excess of 1,000 tonnes.

North Ayrshire Council are delighted with the standard of finish on all installations, and the level and quality of communication provided by Everwarm site and senior management throughout the contract. Going forward, we will be providing the Council with monthly updates on savings made to date, measuring these against our overall commitment. In this endeavour, we are being supported by EEVS Insight, an independent specialist in the field of energy efficiency measurement and verification (M&V).
